ABIC announces the appointment of a new Executive Director

The Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) has announced the appointment of Richard Winchell to the newly-created post of Executive Director.

Mr. Winchell, an experienced management professional, holds more than 25 years of experience in management and organizational development in both the public and international business sectors. He is currently a Director with SRS Bermuda, a position which he will continue to hold.

He will work closely with the Board of ABIC to develop ABIC communications and services for member companies, and strengthen partnerships with regulatory, government, and professional organizations.

“This new position has been created to better serve and address the needs of the membership,” said ABIC President David Ezekiel. “We believe Richard is well-qualified to implement, on a day-to-day basis, ABIC’s objectives to develop, encourage, promote and protect the financial and general business interests and economic well-being of its members and Bermuda.”

“I am very pleased to accept this new role with ABIC,” said Mr. Winchell. “This is an exciting opportunity to work with and serve a committed Board and membership of this very important sector of the Bermuda economy.

“ABIC’s members employ the vast majority of staff in international business in Bermuda and we work to ensure that Bermuda is sustainable as the premier center from which to conduct international business,” he added.

“With international companies as the largest contributor to Bermuda’s economy, it is crucial that all of us work to preserve our Island’s unique and delicate economic, environmental and social balance”.

As well as representing the interests of international business in Bermuda, ABIC is known for its Education Awards program, one of the largest scholarships available to Bermudian students. The ABIC Education Awards program has been in place for 26 years.

ABIC, the voice of international business, represents more than 130 companies incorporated in Bermuda.
