In the summer of 2008 our e-mentor programme was created. Staff from sponsorship companies and ABICEA Alumni are recruited to mentor the new scholarship recipients. These professionals dedicate themselves to being positive role models and expose our recipients to professional opportunities in the international business sector in Bermuda.

Mentoring can benefit you too!

You can make a difference in your life and the life of a student studying to become a professional. Mentors are asked to attend a kick-off reception and communicate with their student 2-4 times per month. Please contact gpeters@abic.bm if you are interested in becoming a mentor.

Each year, ABIC enables approximately 14-20 students to study in the field of international business. Mentors are needed to give these students advice and friendship as they work towards their career goals.

I believe ABIC is the cream of the crop when it comes to scholarship awards and incorporating recipients into its mentorship program. A model that other awards should adapt.

Derrick Hendrickson, Network Engineer, Decisions Ltd., 2005 Scholar

I feel that the ABICEA Awards provide a great opportunity for individuals to further their education and with the mentors provided it helps them feel as I they are not alone when away from home. Having some there to push you along the way is a great help.

Kian Butterfield, University of East London Student, 2010 Scholar

This scholarship allowed me to embark on my college journey, while providing me with the additional benefit of a mentor, who was willing to share his experiences in the industry. I thank the scholarship committee of the ABICEA for selecting me as one of the 2010 scholars.

Jubilee Edness, St. John’s University Student, 2010 Scholar

Being a part of the mentor program was helpful for me as it connected me to someone who I could trust and always ask for advice whenever I was having trouble. It is an excellent program to be involved in and I’m honored to have been a part of it.

Victoria Medeiros, Brock University, 2010 Scholar

The ABIC EA provided me not only with an opportunity to further my education in Information Technology…but also provided me with support during my educational journey in the form of a mentor that currently works in the industry…The ABICEA is a scholarship that ensures you continue to stay on the right path while obtaining your degree.

Tiffany A Samuels, New England Institute of Technology Student, 2011 Scholar

ABIC has allowed me pursue a goal that I was beginning to think was not within my reach, for that I am thankful to them and my mentors.
