ABIC’s vision for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is to inspire ABIC members to advance DEI culture by providing data-informed education and resources relevant to Bermuda’s context.

ABIC established this DEI resource library to support your efforts to advance DEI in your organizations.

Every organization is at a different point in their DEI journey.  The tools, templates and resources in this library are intended for you to adapt them for your organizational context.  The library will be updated, and you are encouraged to submit content that may be useful to your peers to gpeters@abic.bm.

As a starting point, it is useful to define common terms.  Diversity is the collection of our similarities and differences – experiences, characteristics we are born with or choices we’ve made.  This includes, but is not limited to race, color, religion, age, gender, physical abilities, sexual orientation, thought, experience, religious and political beliefs, marital status, education, language, etc.  Equity refers to the fair and respectful treatment of all people by identifying and eliminating unfair biases or barriers to full employee participation and engagement.  Inclusion is about how we use the power of diversity.  This means each person is encouraged and feels comfortable bringing their whole self to the organization; resulting in opportunities for them to collaborate through their unique perspectives, experiences, and opinions for the mutual benefit of all.
