The Association of Bermuda International Companies proudly announced the 25 recipients of the 2024 ABIC Education Awards.

ABIC is one of the largest scholarship providers offered in Bermuda. Now in its 47th year ABIC is very pleased to offer scholarships to those wishing to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in an international business field. Supporting over 540 students, ABIC continues to help educate individuals that might not have had the opportunity to study abroad.

Zorena Anderson

Zorena, a graduate of Warwick Academy’s International Baccalaureate program, is excelling in her second year at the University of Liverpool. Majoring in Business and Economics, she consistently achieves top grades, currently at the first-class level. Leadership and teamwork have always been hallmarks of Zorena’s journey. During high school, she served as a form leader and actively participated in extracurricular activities. Her true passion lies on the football pitch. For over seven years, she’s represented Bermuda in international tournaments, traveling extensively as part of the National Football Team. Zorena’s dedication extends to mentoring younger generations, evident in her roles as a youth coach for BFLA football and a student ambassador at the University of Liverpool. At university, Zorena continues to thrive in a vibrant environment. She actively engages with the Economic Society, the African-Caribbean Society, and the university’s football team. Beyond academics, she gained valuable work experience during term breaks by interning at Arch Capital Group Ltd. This internship provided her with a deep understanding of financial modeling and economic analysis, while further solidifying her Excel expertise. Upon graduation, she plans to return to Bermuda and leverage her skills to establish herself within the international business sector.

Chasity Armstrong

Chasity graduated from Berkeley Institute in 2021 and completed her Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration before attending the University of Kent in 2023. She is now entering her second year in the fall of 2024, studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Cyber Security). During her time at Bermuda College, Chasity consistently earned a place on the Vice Dean’s List and graduated with distinction. She also received the Ministry of Education’s College Promise tuition award. At the University of Kent, she remains actively engaged by joining societies such as Women in STEM, iCSS, and the Black Intellectuals Society. When she returns to Bermuda for the summer, Chasity volunteers with Longtail Learning, tutoring young Bermudians. Over the past three summers, she has interned at various companies, exploring her passion for the insurance industry. Her goal is to pursue a career as an underwriter at an international firm with offices in Bermuda upon her graduation in 2026. Chasity plans to obtain certifications in both Cyber Security and Insurance, believing that continuous learning is key to success. She hopes to continue tutoring and to provide other Bermudians with opportunities similar to those she has been fortunate to receive.

Davis Barnes

Davis, an honors student and 2024 graduate of Mount Saint Agnes Academy, has earned awards in all his financial management classes. This fall, he will attend Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce. Davis aspires to become an accountant, with a goal of returning to Bermuda to achieve his dedication to both academic excellence and professional ambition. His achievements highlight his commitment to a successful career in the financial sector. Outside the classroom, Davis has been
actively engaged in extracurricular activities, including football and baseball. He has taken on leadership roles by coaching minor league baseball teams and serving as an umpire for older age groups. These experiences have honed his teamwork, leadership, and decision-making skills, reflecting his commitment to personal development and community involvement. Davis eagerly anticipates immersing himself in a new environment, where he looks forward to meeting a diverse array of individuals and engaging with different perspectives and cultures at his new school.

Imani Bean

Imani Bean is a dedicated student entering her second year at Birmingham City University, where she  is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. In her first year, Imani demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to her peers by serving as a course representative. With aspirations to achieve professional licensure through the ACCA program, Imani aims to return to Bermuda to build a career as a management accountant. Her passion for finance and drive to contribute to her community underscore her academic and professional goals, with a focus on promoting financial accuracy and transparency within the industry. In her free time, Imani enjoys exploring the outdoors and reading novels. These hobbies have helped her gain valuable skills that enhance her performance and productivity as a future management accountant. Grateful for the scholarship supporting her education, Imani is committed to academic excellence and developing the skills necessary to make a positive impact in her field.

Noah Bothello

Noah is entering his second year at Brock University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration. A 2023 graduate of the International Baccalaureate Diploma program at Warwick Academy, Noah’s interest in business was sparked by an IGCSE Business Studies class. This initial interest has grown into a focus on accounting and finance, along with expanding his professional  network. During high school, Noah held multiple leadership roles and was a member of the Senior Jazz Band for three years, participating in numerous concerts as a tenor saxophonist. He is particularly proud of his role as Deputy Head Boy, which allowed him to enhance his leadership skills and contribute to the community. Noah also served as House Captain, where he enjoyed organizing sports events and fostering team spirit. Noah thoroughly enjoyed his first year of university and is excited to return in the fall. After graduating, he plans to return to Bermuda to work in the business industry.

Satya Darrell

Satya is a 2024 Somersfield Academy IB Diploma graduate, set to attend the University of Manchester, part of the prestigious Russell Group, to pursue a degree in International Business and French. Throughout her time at Somersfield Academy, Satya consistently maintained the principal’s high honor roll and held roles such as General Advisor on the Student Leadership Council and secretary of the Rotary Interact Club. Satya hones her skills outside the classroom, participating in international debate competitions, the KPMG Investment Challenge, the Alliance Française des Bermudes scholarship, and Model UN. An avid athlete and musician, she is a member of the Bermuda National Badminton and National Women’s Rugby teams, an all-around athlete for Somersfield Academy, and a violinist/violist with the Bermuda Philharmonic Society/Bermuda School of Music, earning an Outstanding Teen Award for her performing arts. Her true passion lies in helping others: she coaches badminton, tutors French, and volunteers with the Bermuda National Trust/Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute and the Hamilton Rotary Interact Club. After completing her tertiary education, Satya plans to return to Bermuda to pursue a career in the re/insurance sector and eventually become the CEO of her own sustainable capital investments consultancy firm.

Roshunté Davis

Roshunté Davis is a young and determined mother of one, currently pursuing her education at Penn Foster College. She is completing a bachelor’s degree in business management with a finance major. Recently, she achieved her associate’s degree in healthcare management with a notable 3.57 GPA, earning placement on the Dean’s List and induction into the Delta Epsilon Tau National Honor Society. Her educational goals include obtaining her bachelor’s degree and pursuing a CPA certification. Roshunté looks forward to transitioning her career and gaining further knowledge and exposure in the finance and international business sectors upon completing her studies. Currently, Roshunté works as a Healthcare Manager and billing administrator at Fountain Health, where she is increasingly involved in the business aspects of the organization. Outside of work, she volunteers as a Big Sister in the Big Brother and Big Sister organization. In her personal time, she enjoys reading, spending quality time with her daughter, fishing, and dancing.

Samai Dunn

Samai, a driven leader and community advocate, recently graduated from Bermuda College in May 2023 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Building upon her academic foundation at Bermuda High School, where she excelled as Games Captain in 2021 and earned the prestigious Business Attainment Award, Samai thrived in the college environment. Her commitment to personal development extended beyond academics. She diligently completed the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Program, attaining Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards. Not content to stop there, Samai transitioned to become an Award Leader and Participant Representative in 2023/2024, demonstrating her dedication to mentoring others. Samai’s passion for service extends to the community. She joined the Eliza Doolittle Society in 2021, actively volunteering to provide food assistance to those in need. Her athletic spirit found expression as a member of the Paradise Hitters Volleyball Club and Hurricane’s Basketball Academy. Complementing her academic achievements, Samai interned at Conyers in their Corporate Services and Accounts Department, gaining valuable industry experience. This fall, Samai embarks on a new chapter at Howard University, where she will pursue a degree in Finance. Eager to immerse herself in the vibrant HBCU community, Samai looks forward to continuing her leadership roles and exploring athletic opportunities.

Jayce Fraser

Jayce, an honors graduate from the Class of 2021 at The Taft School, is currently a sophomore  Political Science major at Clark Atlanta University. Following a gap-year internship as a Global Risk Compliance Analyst at Conyers, he now maintains Dean’s List status. Actively involved in campus life, Jayce is a member of the Political Science Association, the International Students Association, and serves as a representative for Clark Atlanta University’s new soccer club. He also holds membership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. through the Alpha Phi Chapter, where he takes on the role of Community Service Chair. Beyond academics, Jayce’s passion for soccer extends beyond the playing field. An avid player with experience at both the collegiate and international level, he currently coaches youth players in Bermuda. Jayce’s future plans include pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Science upon graduation, followed by a return to Bermuda to embark on a career in Political Risk Insurance. Dedicated to giving back to his community, he intends to continue mentoring young people and promoting the importance of higher education.

Anthony Gutzmore

Anthony completed his Associate of Arts in Business Administration in May 2024 from Bermuda College. A dedicated and driven student, he distinguished himself by joining the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and securing internships with prestigious firms such as Ernst & Young and Markel, gaining valuable experience in accounting and insurance. This fall, Anthony will attend St. Francis Xavier University (St. FX) to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance. His passion for finance and insurance fuels his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Beyond academics, Anthony actively participates in the Royal Bermuda Regiment, engaging in rigorous training exercises to broaden his skill set. Upon completing his degree, he intends to return to Bermuda to establish a successful professional career. Additionally, he is committed to supporting organizations that assist students and to creating opportunities for other aspiring professionals.

Simeon Hayward

Simeon attended Saltus Grammar School for the first two years of high school before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida. He graduated from IMG with high honors in the class of 2023. Currently, Simeon is entering his sophomore year at High Point University in North Carolina, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in business administration. At High Point, Simeon is actively involved on campus. He spends much of his time training and competing with the Division 1 track team. He is also dedicated to community service and participates in various clubs, including the iBelong Male Mentoring Program and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. After graduating from High Point, Simeon plans to return to Bermuda to use his computer science knowledge to develop innovative solutions for the international business sector.

Moses Johnson

Moses is a 2023 IB Graduate of Warwick Academy class of 2023, who has recently completed his first year at the University of West England, Bristol pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management and economics. Moses plans to obtain his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and work locally within the reinsurance industry. He is eager to gain valuable work experience and advance his career, enabling him to expand his network and ultimately pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations. Outside of school, Moses participates in both athletic and community-based activities. He has trained and competed both locally and abroad for cycling and also participated in providing humanitarian services to the public as a member of the Bermuda Rotary Interact program. Moses hopes to start his own company, providing employment opportunities to Bermudians, as well provide scholarship opportunities to help young adults reach their academic and career goals. A quote that inspires Moses is, “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts” – Sir Winston Churchill.

A’Naijé Keesee-Ming

A’Naijé is entering his third year as a Business & Management/Business Economics student at the University of Glasgow this fall. He is interested in pursuing the Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute certification. At the Berkeley Institute, A’Naijé discovered his passion for international business, which continued during his time at Bermuda College as a dual enrollment student. In 2020, he graduated with merit in Hospitality and Business Management, and in 2021, he graduated with distinction in Business Administration, also from Bermuda College. He was also awarded the Rotary International Exchange in 2020. Upon successfully completing his studies in Scotland, he plans to travel to England to pursue a DPhil in Economics at the University of Oxford. A’Naijé has gained experience interning at (re)insurance companies in Bermuda and intends to gain further international insight before returning to Bermuda to secure employment in the international business industry. By doing so, he will acquire the necessary skill set and experience to achieve his career goal of becoming the Chief Executive Officer of the organization he plans to establish.

Asher Mello

Asher graduated with honors from Pinnacle Academy Homeschool in 2024 and is an Auburn Academic Heritage Scholar. He was a member of the National Latin Honor Society and earned medals on the National Latin Exam for two consecutive years. In his junior year of high school, Asher founded BDA Cleanup, an environmental initiative based on micro-volunteerism, and developed the associated website to facilitate volunteer connections. Music plays a significant role in Asher’s life. He has studied piano since the age of six and played lead tenor in the Bermuda School of Music Steel Pan Group during his four years of high school, performing at various events across the island. Asher also regularly plays piano for his church and other local ministries. His hobbies include gardening, weightlifting, and digital music production. In the fall, Asher will attend Auburn University, where he plans to major in Information Systems Management.

Blake Oliveira

Blake is a 2023 Warwick Academy graduate and is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Business and Management at the University of the West of England. At Warwick Academy, Blake earned numerous academic accolades, including the Outstanding Effort award and multiple honors in academics, sports, and community service. Blake is committed to giving back to his community by mentoring students and promoting personal and academic excellence. He is a dedicated and hardworking individual with a robust background in construction, hospitality, and maritime services. An accomplished athlete, Blake has received awards in triathlon, cycling, and swimming, including the Junior Male Triathlete of the Year. Upon graduating with a degree in Business and Management, Blake plans to return to Bermuda and secure a position in the (re)insurance industry to develop his knowledge and build experience within the field. One of his favorite quotes, “You can’t be average and expect extraordinary results,” reflects his dedication to continuous growth and learning.

Sari Smith

In May 2024, Sari graduated from Bermuda College with an Associate Degree in Business with distinction. This September, she will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance at Exeter University. Following her studies, she plans to obtain professional qualifications in accounting or actuarial science. Outside of academics, Sari is deeply committed to community service. As an entrepreneur and accomplished violinist, she has started her own business performing at weddings and events. For the past seven years, she has volunteered as a violinist in rest homes and provided affordable violin lessons to Bermuda’s youth. Additionally, she has served in various positions in the Hamilton Rotary Interact over the past six years. With a strong sense of community, entrepreneurial spirit, and drive for excellence, Sari looks forward to furthering her education in the UK and returning to Bermuda to contribute to her community and advance her career in the re/insurance industry.

Kahlil Smythe

Kahlil Smythe graduated with distinction from Bermuda College in 2024, earning an Associate of Arts in Business Administration with a 3.80 GPA. He was recognized as the CPA Most Outstanding Accounting/Finance Graduate and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Currently, he is a Finance Intern at Sompo International and will pursue an MA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance at the University of Edinburgh starting in September. Kahlil graduated from Cedar Bridge Academy in 2022, where he was consistently on the honor roll and received the College Promise Scholarship, covering his Bermuda College tuition. He achieved Principal’s Honors throughout his senior year at Cedar Bridge, excelled as a trumpeter in the school band, and passed three ABRSM music exams along with his music GCSE exam. Upon completing his degree, Kahlil aims to return to Bermuda to work for an audit firm and aspires to obtain his CPA or ACA certification. His dedication to academic and professional excellence marks him as a future leader in accounting and finance.

Jehrai Tucker

After graduating from The Berkeley Institute in 2021, Jehrai joined Bermuda College. At Bermuda College, he was a student employee in the Business Office, a member of the Student Government as Assistant Treasurer, a member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a member of MenSpeak, a volunteer for the Bermuda College Foundation, and a Dean’s List student. He attended the ILS Convergence Conference in 2022 and 2023, the Bermuda Risk Summit in 2023, the Bermuda Captive Conference in 2023, and the Bermuda Tech Summit in 2023. Beyond academics, Jehrai’s passions shift to the world of Muay Thai and weightlifting. He is an enthusiast of history, constantly indulging himself in the stories and events of the past. Jehrai graduated from Bermuda College in December 2023 and subsequently interned at Deloitte as an Audit Associate. After Deloitte, he began interning at Integral ILS, catering to his passions: insurance and finance. In the fall of 2024, he will commence his journey at Newcastle University, majoring in Economics & Finance, equipping himself with the knowledge needed to positively impact Bermuda’s economy.

Sydney West

Sydney demonstrates exceptional academic focus and leadership at St. Francis Xavier University. Entering her final year, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with an Advanced Major in International Business, a Spanish minor, and a Co-op program for practical industry experience. Beyond academics, Sydney actively contributes to campus life. Her financial acumen strengthens the Modern Languages Society as their Treasurer. She fosters financial literacy as Project Manager for Enactus StFX and fosters collaboration as Society Liaison for The BLACC Student Society. Additionally, she manages two part-time on-campus jobs. Sydney demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning. She actively seeks knowledge through financial literacy podcasts and personal development books. When not excelling academically, she maintains a healthy balance through travel, time with loved ones, and exploration of her interests. This summer, Sydney is interning as a Healthcare Underwriting Assistant at Liberty Specialty Markets Bermuda. Following that, she heads for a two-week internship with BFIS in Chicago. Post-graduation, Sydney will take a gap year before returning to Bermuda to embark on a career in the international business sector. Sydney aspires to contribute meaningfully to Bermuda’s youth through mentorship and other initiatives.

Anaya West

Anaya West is a dedicated Computer Science student at Dalhousie University. He graduated with honors from Cedarbridge Academy, where he served as Head Boy and House Captain during the 2022–2023 academic year and was also a member of the National Honor Society. Beyond academics, Anaya is an accomplished athlete, running track and field for DASH Track Club. He has proudly represented Bermuda in various international competitions, demonstrating his commitment to athletics and personal growth. Anaya’s passion for technology fuels his academic pursuits, with a strong interest in innovation and solving complex problems. He lives by Winston Churchill’s words, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” Anaya eagerly applies his skills in real-world contexts through projects and internships, gaining practical experience that complements his academic studies. Anaya aspires to make significant contributions to Bermuda’s tech and international business sectors. By integrating these fields, he aims to foster innovation and drive positive change in his home country, leveraging his knowledge and experiences to create a meaningful impact.

Kennedy Wilks

Kennedy Wilks is currently pursuing a Global Law degree at Queen Mary University of London. He graduated with honors from Dulwich College in 2023, excelling in English Literature, Economics, and French. His leadership was evident as Head of the African and Caribbean Society and the Young Entrepreneurs’ Society, where he organized cultural initiatives and mentored peers. Kennedy co-founded Kaleid Consultancy, a nonprofit aimed at helping students gain admission to independent schools through insider advice and curated tutoring programs. He conducted one-on-one tutoring in Math and English, tailored lessons to individual needs, and used his graphic design skills to create promotional materials, enhancing the organization’s impact. Additionally, Kennedy is an accomplished artist. He recently held his first solo show in London, drawing inspiration from personal archives, including images from his childhood, family, and friends. His collection explored identity, love, family, and cultural narratives, reflecting his journey towards self-definition. Kennedy aspires to specialize in intellectual property, data management, and artificial intelligence. His goal is to lead a top global law firm, contributing innovative solutions and promoting social equality through community service and mentoring

Majesty Wilson

Majesty is a 2022 graduate from ChristChurch School (CCS) in Virginia. Currently pursuing a BSc in Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University (GMU), she is a Dean’s List Awardee, a member of GMU’s Honor College and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. During her high school career, Majesty was on the Headmaster’s List, maintained a 4.29 GPA and inducted into the National Honour Society. She held the positions of Prefect, Residential Prefect Leader, Community and Unity Councils member. Alongside her studies, Majesty participated in extra-curricular activities such as volleyball and varsity football. As an avid footballer, Majesty was team captain and selected for the All-State team at CCS. She is a current member of GMU’s Intramural Co-ed team and PHC’s Women’s team. Majesty is actively involved in her churches locally and abroad, giving back to her communities. Upon the completion of her undergrad degree, Majesty intends to attend law school, be called to the Bermuda Bar and give back to the community that has given so much to her.

Chantae Wilson

Chantae Wilson completed her high school education in the UK in 2020 before returning home to enroll in Bermuda College’s Actuarial Science Program. During her time there, Chantae was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, received Vice President Honors, and was awarded the Most Outstanding Arts and Science Graduate of the 2023 class. Chantae discovered her passion for gymnastics at a young age and competed as an elite gymnast on the Bermuda National Team. She represented Bermuda internationally for over 10 years, proudly winning one of only two gold medals for the country at the 2017 NatWest Island Games in Gotland. Now a senior at St. Francis Xavier University, Chantae’s ultimate goal is to return to Bermuda and become a qualified actuary in the life (re)insurance industry. She has joined Actuaries of Bermuda and is eager to thrive, learn, and inspire like-minded individuals in the community. As a female Bermudian actuary, she hopes to serve as a role model and demonstrate that success is achievable even as a minority.

Ywione Darrell

Ywione Darrell is a dedicated scholar who will be pursuing a Masters (MSc) in Economics for Development at the University of Oxford. His educational journey from Paget Primary School on Ord Road to Saltus Grammar School on St. John’s Road provided him with early insights into Bermuda’s socioeconomic disparities. Ywione’s awareness of these inequalities has motivated him to pursue a career in economic research and policymaking. This summer, Ywione will graduate with a First Class Honours Bachelor Degree (BSc) in Political Economy from King’s College London. Beyond academics, Ywione is committed to reinvesting in his community. He notably co-founded Longtail Learning, an educational support organization for Bermudian youth. Despite his achievements, Ywione attributes much of his success to his Great Aunt Melinda Williams, Mother Onika Darrell, and Grandmother McLeitha Darrell. Their support, alongside that of the Bermudian public, inspires Ywione to focus his future research on creating actionable solutions to bridge Bermuda’s economic divide and ensure a prosperous future for all Bermudians.
