The Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) held its first annual Golf Tournament, a networking event for 54 representatives of its member companies and guests from the Bermuda government, local banks, law firms and other corporations which conduct business with the international sector.
The tournament, which included an awards luncheon, was held March 2 at Tucker’s Point Club. It was preceded by a cocktail reception, hosted by Bacardi Limited at its downtown headquarters, on the evening of March 1.
“Our first golf tournament was a great success, and we are already planning and looking forward to next year’s event,” said ABIC chairman David Ezekiel.
“Proceeds from the tournament have been added to the ABIC Education Scholarship Awards Scheme, which has given financial assistance to promising Bermuda students with post-secondary education overseas for more than 20 years. We are particularly grateful to Jardine Matheson’s generosity in contributing $1,500 to this scheme through the tournament.”
The first prize in the tournament went to the Marsh Management Services Ltd. team represented by Michael Tait, David Spratt, David Lindo, and James Broadbent.
Second prize was awarded to Belco & Bacardi International Ltd. team, with
Stuart Gurl and Joe Morgan representing Bacardi; and Gary Madeiros and Vince Ingham representing Belco.
In third place was the Schroders (Bermuda) Ltd. team of Peter Everson, Gary Carr, Scott Burns, and Gordon Purvis.
